Luis Canas

Luis Canas is a winery with a great family tradition that dates from 1928, although the family has been involved in the noble craft of creating and aging wine in Villabuena, the heart of the Rioja Alavesa, for more than two centuries. In 1970 Luis Canas began to market bottled wines. This marked the beginnings of what today is one of the leading bodegas in Rioja Alavesa. He has created a first rate winemaking facility with the most modern technological equipment capable of producing wine of maximum quality. The process starts with the strict control of the entire life cycle of the vines and only the best grapes are made into wine. The grapes are then selectively hand-harvested, analyzed, fermented and macerated under controlled temperatures and aged in French and American oak barrels.

Crianza
This beautiful ruby red wine is made from 100% Tempranillo grapes. Aged for 16 months in French and American oak barrels, it is fruity and elegant, round and well balanced with a long finish. Great with game, red meats, pasta dishes and chesses. Serve at room temperature.

Reserva - Seleccion de la Familia
This beautiful Reserva is made from 95% Tempranillo, 3% Graciano and 2% Garnacha from vines that are at least 40 years old. Aged in French and American oak for 2 years and one more year in the bottle before being released. It has a beautiful ruby color with brick reflections, aromas of roasted almonds and matured red fruits, good body, great balance and a fantastic finish. Compliments any grand meal.

Amaren Reserva
This elegant wine is made from 100% Tempranillo grapes that come from 60 year old vines. Temperature controlled fermentation takes place for a period of 7 days with an additional maceration time of 14 days, and aging in French Oak and then American Oak for a total period of 24 months. This beautiful wine has an intense red color that darkens towards the edges. It has a good structure, and a full range of aromas of red fruit preserves, fine woods and roasted fennel. It is elegant and intense on the palate. This wine is dedicated to Luis Canas' mother in honor of her love of her land, her wine cellars and her family; and to "Mother Earth" and the vineyards and wines that are nurtured with motherly love.
