Villa
del Re Veneto, Italy
|
Cantina Sociale Ponte di Piave, Villa del
Re
Villa Del Re is from the northeastern part of
the region of Veneto in the province of Treviso.
Treviso borders on Friuli. Along the broad banks
of the Piave River, about 25 miles northeast and
inland from where the river empties into the Adriatic,
lies the winery Cantina Sociale Ponte di Piave.
The strength of their wines, which is the fragrance
and freshness, comes from the gravelly terrain
the vines are grown in, unlike the sandy clays
toward the Adriatic.

Villa del Re, Veneto
Pinot Grigio
...is a clone from the Pinot Nero grape varietal
and was originally brought to Italy from the French
area of Borgogne. Villa Del Re Pinot Grigio is
produced with some of the most modern technologies
available today, from refrigeration of the fresh
"must" to low temperature fermentation. This enhances
the fragrance and balance of this wine. The alcohol
content of this Pinot Grigio is around 11.5% and
is a delightful wine for just drinking alone or
to accompany foods that are not intense in flavor.
Merlot
...as with the Cabernet, also originated in France.
It is one of the regions most heavily planted
varietals, and as with the Cabernet, the Merlot
is no longer considered foreign because of its
very Italian traits. This wine is delicious and
light with good fruit and a fresh Merlot fragrance.
A great wine to compliment roasted or broiled
meats and pasta dishes. Also a satisfying wine
for sipping.
Cabernet sauvignon
...originally a French varietal, has been growing
in the Piave region for so long it is no longer
considered foreign in as much as these wines have
acquired local traits. It is a delicious medium-bodied
Cabernet with a warm, lively flavor and good fruit.
A great wine to compliment roasted or barbecued
meats, chicken, and pasta.
